On a ’92 Seneca pass-thru, a president’s security concern
When a train carrying the then-President George H-W Bush approached Seneca during the 1992 campaign, the train slowed but never stopped. And that surprised people who gathered near the Seneca Depot. And it had something to do with a telephone call Blackston received from someone wanting to know Bush’s time-of-arrival. Blackston got suspicious and relayed the call to the police station where Secret Service agents were going over security arrangements. In an interview airing today on 101.7/WGOG, the then-mayor explains exactly why he became suspicious.
