New Marshall Simonds Principal Values Belonging, Sense of Team
There’s a new school administrator in town, and he’s ready to hit the ground running. Tim McMahon took the reins from six-year Marshall Simonds Middle School principal, Cari Perchase, following her departure to another district this July. A Burlington resident and educator of 22 years, Tim comes to Marshall Simonds with experience as a middle and high school teacher and, most recently, principal of North Middlesex Regional High School.

Student activist Sophie Shen wins leadership award from Bank of America
Sophie Shen, a rising senior at Arlington High School, is among five students in Massachusetts selected as a Bank of America Student Leader, the company said. The award earns Shen a paid summer internship with a local nonprofit (the Waltham Boys and Girls Club) and an all-expenses-paid weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., for a national leadership summit.

Connor Madden’s gem sends Hudson Post 100 to Zone 4 championship series
HUDSON – Hudson’s lead was incredibly narrow, but with Connor Madden on the bump, it remained remarkably safe. No. 3 Hudson Post 100 scored early against No. 2 Milford Post 59 during the American Legion Zone 4 semifinal game on Saturday night at Guidotti Field, but after pulling ahead 1-0, couldn’t produce any additional offense. It was Madden – a right-handed pitcher and 2023 graduate of Hudson High School – who proved to be the hero, shutting down Milford, maintaining Post 100’s one-run lead, and ultimately sending Hudson to the Zone 4 finals, which will be played throughout the next week.
Wenzel: Rotary Club of Marlborough presents scholarships to graduates
MARLBOROUGH – Pam Morse was present at the Bolton Street Tavern as the Rotary Club of Marlborough gave a head start on college tuition to 11 2024 high school graduates as they awarded $25,000 in scholarships at their June 13 meeting. Five local graduates walked away with $4,000 each and five other graduates were awarded $1,000 each for their education.
