Tanglewood to host spring break camp for kids

ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Tanglewood Nature Center and Museum is giving little ones the chance to learn about nature during their spring breaks with its half-day camps.

Tanglewood is hosting spring break programs for its members’ children in kindergarten through third grade from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on April 23, 24, and 25. Children participating in these half-day camps are encouraged to bring a water bottle and to leave phones, electronics, and toys at home so they can get the most out of the programs.

Each day of camp will feature a new learning experience. Tuesday’s program is Feathers and Fluff with Megan, which will teach kids about animal coverings and take them out on the trails to look for feathers. Campers will learn about the life cycles of frogs, toads, and insects on Wednesday during Metamorphosis with Ryan. Mad Science with Maggie will allow kids to participate in hands-on experiments and make scientific discoveries on Thursday. Campers will be able to meet some of Tanglewood’s animal residents every day.

Registering ahead is required, and there were 13 open spaces available at the time this story was published. Each day costs $30 and includes a morning snack. Parents and guardians can register for one day or all three days using this link. Families who want to participate but aren’t currently members of Tanglewood can apply for membership on the nature center’s website.
