    Elmira woman killed in farming incident in Chemung

    CHEMUNG, N.Y. ( WETM ) — An Elmira woman is dead after police said a farming incident happened in Chemung in early August.

    According to New York State Police, 56-year-old Tammy L. Marler was killed after she was backed over by a tractor while a 74-year-old operator was attempting to hook up farm equipment to the tractor.

    Hardinge to stay open after receiving needed funding

    Troopers responded to the incident, which took place in an area of Strops Road in the Town of Chemung, around 12:11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11.

    Marler was declared dead at the scene by the Chemung County Medical Examiner. Police report that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
