HORSEHEADS, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Village of Horseheads residents will have the chance to get rid of old documents over the weekend.

The Village of Horseheads is holding a free community shredding event from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the village hall parking lot. The shredding event will be held rain or shine, and participants will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis.

This event is open to village residents only, and participants must bring proof of residency. Businesses are not allowed to participate in this event.

All papers will be shredded on-site in a mobile shredding truck. The village recommends bringing documents like bank statements, credit card statements, canceled checks, tax information, and insurance documents to be securely disposed of. Only paper will be accepted (no cardboard), and it’s not necessary to shred junk mail.

Any questions about this shredding event should be directed to the village clerk’s office by calling 607-739-5691 ext. 7.
