ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – If you are looking for a nice quiet forecast then welcome to the right place!

So far this is an early September to remember. The whole of the Southern Tier’s weather conditions are going to remain quiet through Friday. Then, you guessed it. Things become more unsettled for a day thanks to a frontal system that moves into the Twin Tiers come Friday night and into Saturday.

This is a classic west-to-east set-up that starts late Friday night and continues through the overnight and into the day Saturday. We can expect heavy rain at times. Having said this, the jury – a/k/a the models – are still debating the exact timing and amount. The good-ish news is that this is still a few days away so there is still time to pinpoint the exact scenario. This bears watching so keep it tuned to the 18 Storm Team for the latest.

Temperatures stay nice and mild, with some areas possibly hitting the 80° degree mark before the week is out. You will notice the cooler temperatures that come into play for next week as we close out Summer 2024. After Saturday, we`ll see the high temperatures will only rise to the mid-60s to low-70s behind that cold front.

Meanwhile, enjoy the 80° weather and mostly clear skies through Friday. With lows both nights in the mid-40s to low-50s.
