New large solar farm in Halifax County capable of powering about 20k homes

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR ) –A new solar farm in Southside Virginia is now up and running.

Dominion Energy announced that its large-scale solar farm in Halifax County is now operating. The company says the farm produces enough energy to power approximately 20,000 homes. This is two-thirds of the entire population in Halifax County.

The unique farm stretches across 778 acres and has six miles of streams. This encouraged Dominion Energy to incorporate three “wildlife corridors” that are not fenced.

The corridors run along the stream and allow animals to cut through the property to gain access to water.

This new addition joins the list of over eight solar farms Dominion Energy has across the Commonwealth.
