Pinpoint Weather: Milder Friday, weekend showers possible

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — A cold front will approach from the west to end the week. Slightly milder conditions are slated for Friday with showers possible on Saturday.

Patchy fog may impact the Friday morning commute with temperatures starting in the upper 40s and 50s. A southeast breeze will carry warmer air into Southwest and Central Virginia. Afternoon temperatures will rise into the milder upper 70s and lower 80s.

The approaching cold front will pass through the region on Saturday. Rain showers will have the chance to pass through, but it won’t be a washout. Rainfall amounts will generally be less than 0.10″. Not everyone will see rain but there may be a few rumbles of thunder. Temperatures rise into the 70s to near 80 degrees under variably cloudy skies.

High pressure will build in behind the passing cold front, allowing for cooler and mostly dry weather conditions on Sunday. Skies will become sunny for Sunday with morning lows in the crisp 40s. Afternoon temperatures will be in the fall-like 70s.

High pressure will take control of Southwest and Central Virginia for the week ahead. Mostly clear skies are anticipated Monday through Wednesday.

Cool mornings and warm afternoons are in the forecast with morning lows in the upper 40s and 50s and afternoon highs in the near-average upper 70s and lower/middle 80s.
