An Elbert County farmer says cicadas have taken over his acreage in Bowman. Swan Rubins says cicada shells are all over the place and are being eaten by her farm animals. The noisy cicadas have been emerging over the past month and are expected to continue to make their presence seen and heard through next month across northeast Georgia.

    From the Ga News Network…

A farm in East Georgia is seeing cicada’s emerging in the hundreds.

The farm in Bowman is being taken over by cicadas. Farm owner Swan Rubins says nearly every inch of her farm is covered in cicada shells.

Brood XIX, otherwise known as the Great Southern Brood, was expected to pack quite a punch. The bugs will continue emerging through May and June. But most will have died by July 4th, until the next brood of 13-year cicadas will emerge in 2037.
