17th Annual YSS Celebrate Youth Event at Wheeling Park Next Week

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — The 17th Annual YSS Celebrate Youth event will take place one week from Thursday.

It will be on Thursday, August 1, at Wheeling Park.

Celebrate Youth draws about 4,000 kids, parents, and grandparents from the upper Ohio Valley every year.

It’s a back-to-school fair, but it also includes more than 60 exhibitors who have free items as well as community and health resources.

The main event is on the ice rink, but the activities are all over the park.

And we have all kinds of school supplies to hand out, whether it’s Crayola crayons and Crayola colored pencils and one subject notebooks, highlighters, pens, pencils, erasers, pouches, just a lot of back-to-school supplies so that way it alleviates a little bit of a burden on the families who are prepping for back to school.”

YSS provides every attendee with a free wristband to the park to enjoy all the amenities here to the pool, the mini golf, paddles, and all of that fun stuff. And on top of that, we have different activities like huge bubble making machine, and lots of arts and crafts and bouncy houses.”

They’ll have elaborate full mask face painting and a craft table for creating wooden keepsakes.

There will be a lollipop tree, and each lollipop will come with its own prize.

There will also be free food and drinks.

Organizers say the event will be from 10 to 4 next Thursday at Wheeling Park.
