Watch Two Foxes Ferociously Tango On Suburban Rooftop

For fox sake… these two foxes are getting after it.

If you’ve never seen two foxes duke it out, you’re in for a treat. It’s quite the spectacle, and was beautifully captured in this video below. And since the setting for the battle isn’t in a fox’s natural habitat, I think we are safe in saying that this was a street fight these foxes entered into.

The two smaller wild animals started duking it out on top of a suburban building, right out in the open for everyone to see. One person just so happened to be in their home and heard the commotion outside their window, and they thankfully got it all on camera.

When foxes fight, they often stand up on their hind legs in order to do so. These scuffles could be to establish social dominance (that could last a lifetime), or for more common reasons like defending territory or seeking to claim food.

According to the BBC, you can tell a lot about a fox fight by paying close attention to their ears. If the ears are standing straight up, it’s most likely a ritualized fight. If they are pinned back however, that means the foxes are standing on business (it’s a serious altercation).

You can be the judge on this video, because their ear position in their stand-up-brawl seems to be somewhere in the middle. I’m either having trouble figuring out if it’s a real fight because of that, or because someone overlayed audio from the comedy movie Stepbrothers onto the video.

Looks like it was more of a playful feud to me.

And the person who had a front row seat to this apparently has great seats to all the neighborhood happenings. They consistently post updates on the suburban animal life, like this one where a house cat and a fox share the same territory:
