That’s a good way to ruin the hike on ya.

A hoof to the nuts will always make your day worse, but specially out on a hike. The only option would be to push forward.

The Appalachian Trail is one of the most famous long-distance hiking trails in the world, stretching over 2,190 miles from Georgia to Maine. It runs through the Appalachian Mountain range and offers some of the best views and hiking in Eastern North America. Completed in 1937, this amazing trail spans across 14 states.

Naturally, a trail this large, across that large of an area, attracts a ton of people every year. As it cuts into the middle of nowhere, hikers traverse rugged ground going up mountain sides, walking ridgelines and through dense forest, making it a challenge for all. This obviously comes with some dangers.

But would you ever guess that danger would be a wild pony?

In Virginia, along the trail there is an area that homes wild ponies. These ponies were released in the 1970’s to help the ecosystem out and have become a favorite by hikers to see on the trail. But, they are still wild animals roaming freely and are well versed in defense from predators and potential threats.

This hiker found that out the hard way as they came across a wild pony on the trail. Standing right on top of it the hikers check out the ponies. One hiker decides to pet a pony, but the other standing behind him gets the worst of it.

The pony gets startled and lets out a big kick, nailing the man in the groin.

He has no choice but to walk that one off…
