Patrick Mahomes Sr. - the father of NFL Star Patrick Mahomes - pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated felony charge Tuesday morning. This is the third DWI charged Mahomes Sr., a former major league pitcher, has faced. The first being in 2008, the second in 2019, and now the most recent incident in 2024. His latest DWI happened in the week before last season's Super Bowl, which his son and the Kansas City Chiefs went on to win. Back in February, Mahomes' vehicle was initially pulled over when a patrolling officer noticed a vehicle that was traveling slower than the rest of traffic in the area. When the police ran the plates on the car, they discovered that Mahomes’ tags were expired, which prompted them to pull him over. Mahomes Sr. reportedly had an open 16-ounce Coors can (tallboy) in his center console cupholder, and told the officers that asked him why he was drinking and driving that he “had a few beers while watching a game at a local bar.” If being honest meant anything in that situation, at least Mahomes Sr. told the truth. However, it just helped to confirm his intoxication (along with a field sobriety test, which he failed) and led to his arrest. So now the 54-year-old has entered into a plea, and the timing was definitely a little intriguing. Mahomes Sr. was about to go to trial over the DWI in Smith County, Texas - where he was pulled over in February. Because this is his third DWI, Mahomes Sr. could potentially face up to 10 years in prison, and a fine that could reach as high as $10,000. Considering he's entering a guilty plea, the hope is that Texas prosecutors let Mahomes Sr. off easy. https://twitter.com/jasrifootball/status/1828460489606676582
