HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Showers and storms are expected during the day on Friday.

Moisture is also increasing in the atmosphere, so heat index values will range from 100-105 degrees. A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday.

A cold front is forecast to drop through the region Friday supporting the development of rain and storms.

August rainfall lacks as drought conditions persist

The Weather Authority is closely monitoring the timing and intensity of Friday’s storm threat. The last model updates are in disagreement regarding the timing of the storm’s development. It’s possible we see a few showers and storms after sunrise as a complex of storms to our north drops to the southeast. However, the confidence is higher that storms will develop in the early afternoon with the threat continuing into late evening.

It’s important to keep checking back for the latest on the timeline for storm development.
