    Creston police say ‘person of interest’ turns himself in after morning shooting

    CRESTON, Iowa — The Creston Police Department says a person of interest is in custody following a shooting Thursday morning.

    According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, CPD took a report of a shooting Thursday morning and the victim drove themself to Greater Regional Health’s emergency room following the shooting. Their condition has not been released. The person of interest has turned himself into law enforcement.

    The post did not reveal more details about the incident but an article from the Creston News Advertiser says the shooting was reported at 7:35 a.m. in the 800 block of North Lincoln Street in Creston.

    Lockdowns were put in place at Southwestern Community College, Creston Community School District, and Greater Regional Health facilities because of the shooting but were lifted after learning the person of interest was in custody.

    The names of the victim and the person of interest have not been released.

    The Creston Police Department told WHO 13 that a press release with more information on the shooting would be issued later Thursday.
