Soak a city council member and donate school supplies

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — School starts in less than four weeks in Wichita, so groups are beginning to collect school supplies for needy children. One group hopes to get extra supplies by letting donors soak a Wichita City Council member.
City Council member Mike Hoheisel has volunteered for the dousing.
“I need a bath, you know, at least once a week,” he joked. “So this will be a good chance for me to get that in, so please come on down. Everybody has gripes, so take it out on me with the dunk tank.”
Debbi Prior is one of the organizers. She said people can drop off supplies at Off-Road Motorsports, 3536 S. Southeast Boulevard, from now through Aug. 24.
“We chose Colvin Elementary and Mead Middle School to support because the need for those schools was higher,” she said.
The soak a city council member event will be held at Off-Road Motorsports from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 3.
“There’s a lot of need around the city and most especially in my district,” Hoheisel said. “Donate as much as you can. We really need to help these kids out in a lot of different ways, so I do appreciate it.”
Prior said another incentive to donate is that Off-Road Motorsports is raffling off an impact driver.
She said school supplies and cash donations will be accepted.
