    AfterShocks take win over Midtown Prestige in opening round of TBT

    WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The AfterShocks, a team comprised primarily of Wichita State alumni for The Basketball Tournament, are moving on to the second round of The Basketball Tournament.

    The AfterShocks defeated Midtown Prestige in the opening round of the TBT in Charles Koch Arena on Saturday afternoon, 86-71.

    Markis McDuffie led the AfterShocks in scoring with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting that included 2-of-4 from three-point range. Caleb Walker (12) and Conner Frankamp (10) joined him in double-figure scoring.

    As a team, the AfterShocks shot 46.4% from the field and 30.8% from three.

    The AfterShocks got ahead quickly in the first quarter and mostly maintained their lead throughout. After the end of the first, the score was 22-7 and never trailed after that point in the game.

    The win moves the AfterShocks to the round of 32, which will be played on Monday, July 22, against the winner of Purple Reign (Kansas State alumni) and Team Colorado (Colorado alumni).
