Hope Wichita giving away groceries, school supplies this weekend

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Hope Wichita — formerly Convoy of Hope Wichita — will be providing groceries and school supplies across Sedgwick and Reno Counties this Saturday.

Hope Wichita has nine different locations this Saturday , from south Wichita all the way to Hutchinson. There are two walk-up locations this weekend, while six are drive-thru only.

Here are the walk-up locations:

• Bethel Life Center, 3777 S. Meridian Ave. , in Wichita
• Colvin Elementary School, 2800 S. Roosevelt St. , in Wichita

Here are the drive-thru locations:

• LifePoint Church, 9600 N. Meridian Ave. , in Valley Center
• McAdams Park, 1329 E. 13th St. N. , in Wichita
• Evergreen Recreational Center, 2700 Woodland N. , in Wichita
• Central Christian Church, 2900 N. Rock Rd. , in Wichita
• Hope Church, 2000 S. Hillside St. , in Wichita
• Kansas State Fairgrounds, Gate 7, 25th Ave. , in Hutchinson

No ID is required. Groceries are limited to one load per vehicle, and children must be present to receive backpacks with school supplies.

“Coming from a family where my mother was divorced with children and in need, I can really understand where they’re at, and we just want to show them that people see them,” Hope Wichita director Cheri Lankford said. “That we know what it’s like and that we love them.”

Another location will open in Newton next weekend, Aug. 3. It will be a walk-up location at the Chisholm Trail Shopping Center, 601 SE 36th St.
