2 Lansing men sentenced after threatening people with assault rifles at convenience store
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Two Lansing men have been sentenced after threatening people with assault rifles at a convenience store. Both Quentin Earl Booth, 39, and Derrick Smith Jr., 30, were arrested in Sept. of 2023 when police responded to a call claiming Smith had walked into a Lansing convenience store carrying an assault rifle. Before Smith entered the store a witness reported hearing one of the two men say, “Everyone is going to die.”

Police identify Clare hit-and-run driver accused of injuring motorcyclist and passenger
CLARE — On July 18 around 11:23 p.m., a serious accident occurred at the intersection of 5th and McEwan in the city of Clare. A white Chevrolet SUV, driven by Thomas Vernon Claringbold III of Clare, was speeding south on McEwan and struck an orange Harley Davidson motorcycle at the intersection, police said. The motorcycle was carrying a male driver and a female passenger, both from Mason, MI, who suffered serious injuries, police said. One person was taken by ambulance, while the other was flown out of the Clare Municipal Airport by a FlightCare helicopter. Claringbold, who fled the scene, was quickly located and identified. Police said he was uninjured. He was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

Rashad Trice pled guilty to the kidnapping and murder of Wynter Cole Smith. In July 2023, Trice Broke into Wynter’s home assaulted her mother and then kidnapped the little girl.

Kitten rescued by Michigan fire crew after getting head stuck in muffler
HOWELL, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - A kitten is expected to be OK after it was rescued from a muffler in Howell.A crew with the Howell Area Fire Department received a call Wednesday afternoon about a kitten whose head was stuck in the muffler. The crew slowly removed the muffler. "The kitten was left with needing a good home remedy for those hard to clean ring around the collar stains before heading home. The muffler just needs a little straightening and clamp," the fire department said on social media.The department said the kitten and the muffler are both "in good condition."
