A 9-year-old boy, of Willow Springs, was driving a 2022 Massimo 500 ATV westbound on private property off of Railroad Drive one-half mile south of Willow Springs when he attempted to make a left turn and the vehicle overturned, patrol said. The boy, and a 13-year-old male passenger of Winona, were ejected and the vehicle came to rest on top of the passenger.

The 13-year-old was transported by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.

Neither were wearing a safety device.

Investigating the accident was Tpr. L. J. Combs. Assisting was Cpl. M. Barron.
