    Police ID 35-year-old man fatally shot in Wilmington on Friday night

    A 35-year-old man fatally shot in Wilmington on Friday night has been identified by Wilmington Police as Armand Jones.

    Wilmington police provided no other information concerning the fatal shooting, which is the city's ninth killing by gunplay so far this year.

    The number of people killed by gunfire in Delaware's largest city this year is up by two when compared with the previous year. However, this year in Wilmington 59 people have been shot – that's down one person when compared with last year for the same time period.

    Jones was shot about 7:35 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of S. Van Buren St. in the city's Hedgeville community. That's where police found him, before taking him to a hospital in critical condition.

    He died later from his injuries, police said.
