The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles has worked to meet the demands of the busy summer season by opening on Saturdays at select driver license offices statewide.

The Wilmington office located at 2390 Carolina Beach Road, Suite 104 (South Square Plaza), is one of the 16 made available for Saturday. Walk-in services are from 8 a.m.-noon through Aug. 24 with no appointment necessary.

Since Saturday service hours resumed on June 8, nearly 9,000 customers throughout the state have taken advantage of the extended hours at the select driver license offices, according to a news release from the NCDMV. More than 1,600 customers were served on Saturday, July 13.

Services offered during the Saturday hours include driver license or ID cards, renewals or duplicate orders, address changes, REAL ID issuances, and road tests for customers that have already completed the knowledge and written tests.

“I remain focused on offering more opportunities for customers to receive services both online and during expanded hours,” said Commissioner Wayne Goodwin. “Opening for Saturday hours at many of our busiest locations statewide is what customers want, need, and have requested. These extra hours for customers are a success and we look forward to the next steps after this summer peak season program concludes.”

Anyone considering a visit to the NCDMV should first check to determine if they can complete their business online. NCDMV offers many online services, including driver license and ID card renewals, ordering duplicate licenses and ID cards, address changes and voter registration applications.
