A popular bar and venue on North Fourth Street in Wilmington was the site of an armed robbery over the weekend.

Addie Wuensch, owner of Bottega Art & Wine at 723 N. Fourth St. in downtown's Brooklyn Arts District, said a man came into her establishment around 4:50 p.m. Sunday and "pretended like he wanted to buy a soda. He paid with a card (but) it was declined."

Wuensch said the man then "looked around a lot to make sure no one else was around (we had customers in the back yard)" and pointed to a bulge at his side indicating he had a weapon.

He then took all of the money in Bottega's register as well as the cell phone of bartender Rayana Briggs, who was working alone, Wuensch said.

"Based on the description of the suspect's body language he implied that he had a weapon," Lt. Greg Willett, a spokesperson with the Wilmington Police Department, said. "He kept one of his hands down by his waist. Once he stole the phone and money from the register he fled on foot down Fourth Street."

No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-2609 or to use the Tip 411 app.
