Wilson police have charged two additional men in a shooting that happened three weeks ago in the Five Points neighborhood.

Officers obtained arrest warrants on Thursday for Nykil Batts, 18, of Stantonsburg, and Syhien Dejuan Davis, 21, of Wilson.

Each man is charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of discharging a firearm from an enclosure, according to a release from Sgt. Eric McInerny, public information officer with the Wilson Police Department.

Batts was arrested Thursday and given a $1 million secured bond.

Davis was arrested Friday and held without bond pending his first court appearance.

McInerny said officers were dispatched to a shots-fired call on the the 1200 block of Adams Street at 2:53 p.m. July 10. Police arrived and spoke with several witnesses.

“Officers determined that a dark-colored sedan drove past the witnesses and began firing at them,” McInerny said in a July 12 release.

No one was injured during the shooting.

Investigators identified 19-year-old Wilson resident Kenneth Marquette Edwards as one of the suspects.

Edwards was located shortly after the shooting. Police arrested him on five counts of attempted first-degree murder and jailed him without bond in the Wilson County Detention Center.

Police are still investigating the July 10 shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
