Missouri Minute: Bayer seeks farm bill protections; judge halts St. Louis basic income program
Bayer, which produces the weed killer Roundup and has faced thousands of lawsuits alleging the product causes cancer, is working with U.S. lawmakers on the next federal farm bill to protect itself from further litigation. The proposed provision would use uniform national pesticide labeling to prevent states from creating their own labels, and it would protect Bayer and similar companies from liability for using previously approved labels. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 33-year-old Shane B. Kroske of Warsaw at 8:32 a.m. Thursday in Benton County. He now faces charges of driving while revoked, failure to comply with ignition interlock, and he was also wanted on two Pettis County misdemeanor warrants. Kroske was taken to the Benton County Jail, where he was booked and released.
