OFFICIALS RESPOND TO TRIBAL PURCHASE OF DOWNTOWN ROSEBURG PROPERTIES
Local officials have responded to the recent purchase of two downtown Roseburg properties by the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians. June 21st, the Tribe confirmed that it purchased the former Rite Aid store on Southeast Jackson Street and the adjacent former Safeway property on Southeast Rose Street.
MCINTOSH NAMED WINSTON INTERIM CITY MANAGER
The Winston City Council recently named Thomas McIntosh as interim city manager. City Recorder Cindy Sarti said McIntosh has been working as the city’s community development director for the past two years. Sarti said he was also working closely with City Manager Mark Bower during that time. His new agreement with the city states that the term of the interim role can be terminated by either party, or until the council deems that McIntosh become the permanent manager.
CENTRAL DOUGLAS FIRE & RESCUE LAUNCHES NEW AGENCY
Central Douglas Fire and Rescue Authority invites the public to join them as they launch the new agency. An open house pancake breakfast will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the administrative office on Southeast Main Street in Winston. That will be right before Winton’s Independence Day Parade. Following the parade, the agency will provide hot dogs, cookies, and beverages for lunch. Fire engine rides will be offered along with a hose for children to extinguish a mock house fire.

CITY BUILDINGS TO CLOSE THURSDAY FOR FOURTH OF JULY
City of Roseburg Buildings will be closed this Thursday in observance of the Fourth of July Independence Day holiday. A city release said means that Roseburg City Hall, the Public Safety Center, Roseburg Public Library and other city buildings will not be open to the public. Police and firefighters will continue to provide public safety throughout the holiday.
