Oxford Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Drug Distribution
BOSTON – A local man was sentenced in federal court in Boston on Thursday, after pleading guilty to drug charges. According to federal prosecutors, Chaasad Cyprien, 24, of Oxford, received a sentence of two years in prison and three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine, in April.
Renovation of Boston stadium for soccer team gets green light, community lawsuit pending
The Boston Planning Department unanimously approved a proposal to renovate a stadium in Franklin Park in partnership with a new professional women’s soccer team. White Stadium, a historic venue that was built in 1945 near Franklin Park, will be used for about 20 soccer games each year and will otherwise be open to the public. The city is expected to contribute approximately $50 million for the project, and Boston Unity Soccer Partners $30 million.
