Kingsport head spa offers TikTok famous treatment

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) – A Kingsport salon owner hopes to bring a new type of pampering to the Tri-Cities.

Judy Ellis, owner of Lather Head Spa, first experienced a head spa treatment in Arizona while on a trip.

After thoroughly enjoying it, she said she tried to find somewhere to get another one done in the Tri-Cities without luck.

Rather than be discouraged, Ellis decided to open her own head spa inside the hair salon she already owned.

“If you’ve ever had a facial, it’s kind of like a facial for your scalp,” Ellis said. “It’s very cleansing, it’s very nourishing, and it’s extremely relaxing.”

The head spa has been open for two weeks, during which Ellis said she has seen somewhere between 25 and 30 customers.

“I think everyone is thrilled to have it here in the area,” Ellis said. “Everybody that comes in, they say, ‘I’ve seen these on TikTok, I’ve seen them on social media, I’ve always wanted to try one.’ So they are taking advantage of the fact that we have one here in Kingsport in the Tri-Cities area.”

Ellis told News Channel 11 several of her customers have been excited to take photos and videos of their experiences at the head spa.

“We basically analyze your scalp and your hair, and I pick a treatment plan from our products, and then we get to work.”

Ellis said she puts her own twist on the treatment to make it serene and educational. Treatments range from $50 to $150 and are only available by appointment.

Lather Head Spa is located at 1944 Brookside Drive in Kingsport. Appointments can be made online.
