Abingdon, VA — Our high school football preview continues tonight in Southwest Virginia with a look at the Abingdon Falcons.

Last season under Garrett Amburgey the Falcons finished (6-5) on the season and 4-2 in the Mountain 7 district…
The Falcons return 20 seniors and 16 starters, but maybe none more promising than quarterback Isaac Brooks and running back Owen Barr…
The Falcons started off in a hole in 2023 by dropping the opening 2 games, this season are hoping for a better start and season.

“In this day and age, it’s hard to grow old and to start in the season too, you know, everybody’s, you know, instant gratification these days. And our guys really like we’re going to keep working. We’re going to improve week to week, and we’re going to see this thing through and have a successful season. That’s a credit to our senior leadership says Amburgey.”

“We’re all a bunch of dogs. Yes, sir. Everybody’s strong. Ready to go. Ready? Tired of waiting, says Hawkins.”

“We’re excited. We have a lot of different players this year. People are coming back, seniors in positions, and we have some underclassmen stepping up, ready to play and just interesting play. So whereas excited for that, says Remine”

Falcons open the season against John Battle at 7pm
