    Rankin County teacher hit by vehicle outside school

    RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A Rankin County teacher was taken to a local hospital after being hit by a vehicle.

    Officials with the Rankin County School District said the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at Highland Bluff Elementary on Lakeland Drive on Thursday, August 15.

    “The incident is under investigation by local authorities, and we are cooperating fully to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. We would like to thank our first responders and law enforcement for their quick response. Our thoughts are with all involved, and we are committed to supporting them and their families during this difficult time,” officials said.

    Flowood police said the teacher was stuck in the parking lot of the school while she was directing school traffic. They said the teacher was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

    Police said there are no criminal charges associated with this incident.
