MADISON PARISH, La. ( WJTV ) – Two people, including a Vicksburg man, were killed during a single-vehicle crash in Louisiana.

Louisiana troopers said the crash occurred on U.S. Highway 80 east of LA Highway 601-2 shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 1.

The victims were identified as 20-year-old Kayden Acuff, of Tallulah, Louisiana, and 21-year-old Jamicha Lovings-Smith, of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

According to troopers, Acuff was driving west on U.S. Highway 80 in a 2015 Nissan Altima when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road. Troopers said Acuff attempted to regain control of the vehicle by steering to the left but overcorrected. The vehicle crossed the west and eastbound lanes of the highway and struck a tree.

Troopers said Acuff and Lovings-Smith were both unrestrained and died at the scene. Investigators said impairment is a suspected factor in the crash, and toxicology samples were collected to be submitted for analysis.

    The crash remains under investigation.
