    Four Mississippi airports receive $23 million for improvements

    JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Four Mississippi airports were awarded more than $23 million for infrastructure improvements.

    According to U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), the grants will be used to rehabilitate taxiways and taxiway lighting, construct and extend safety areas, and acquire new land for development.

    “Investment continues to roll into our airports. Every dollar will be used to create a better experience for Mississippians and those who visit,” Wicker said.

    The grants will support:

    • Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport
      • Received $17,167,606 to rehabilitate the taxiway and taxiway lighting.
    • Meridian Key Field Airport
      • Received $3,784,509 to construct and extend the safety area.
    • Olive Branch/Taylor Field Airport
      • Received $1,886,229 to rehabilitate the taxiway.
    • Tunica Municipal Airport
      • Received $225,300 to acquire land for development.
