    Multiple Lake Erie beach advisories issued due to bacteria: ODH

    CLEVELAND (WJW) — Multiple Lake Erie beaches in Northeast Ohio were put under a bacteria contamination advisory Thursday, the Ohio Department of Health reported.

    Several Lake Erie beaches are listed as having high bacteria levels. According to the Ohio Department of Health, the advisory is “posted when the level of bad bacteria in the water has reached unsafe levels and could make you sick. Children, the elderly and those in ill health or weakened immune systems are advised not to swim.”

    As of Thursday, these Lake Erie beaches are listed under a Bacteria Contamination Advisory:

    • Erie County: Nickel Plate Beach, Bay View East
    • Trumbull County: Mosquito Creek Reservoir
    • Ottawa County: South Bass Island State Park, Beachfront Resort
    • Ashtabula County: Conneaut Sandbar Beach
    • Lorain County: Lakeview Beach
