    South Range wins a walk-off thriller, punches ticket to state

    AVON, Ohio (WKBN) – South Range topped Champion 1-0 in the OHSAA Division III Softball Regional Final at Avon High School on Friday afternoon.

    South Range Junior Giada Pauline hit a walk-off, inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure the regional title for the Raiders.

    South Range Pitcher Jayli Wilt tossed a complete game no-hitter with 8 strikeouts in the win.

    Champion’s Gabby Gradishar struck out 14 batters in the setback.

    With the win, South Range advances to the state tournament for the second straight year.

    With the win, the Raiders improve to 27-3

    The Raiders advance to face South Webster in the Division III State Semifinals on Thursday, May 30 at 5:30 p.m. at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.

    Champion’s season comes to an end with a record of 21-5.
