BERLIN TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – A three-vehicle crash on Route 224 in Berlin Township left several people hurt, including two children, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened east of Bedell Road around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

A 2015 Chrysler Town & Country van was headed east, while a 1997 Ford motorhome towing a 2001 Wells Cargo trailer was headed west.

Troopers said the van went left of center to pass another vehicle, hit the motorhome’s trailer, then hit a 2019 Ford Edge that was behind the motorhome head-on.

According to Highway Patrol, an 8-year-old who was riding in the Ford Edge was seriously hurt. Troopers said an adult and a 1-year-old in that car were also hurt and taken to the hospital but their injuries were not life-threatening.

The driver of the van was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, troopers said.

There were three adults and two children in the motorhome, though none of them were hurt, according to Highway Patrol.

Route 224 was closed in both directions for about three-and-a-half hours.

No charges have been filed at this time and the crash is still under investigation.
