    Ohio-PA battle headlines Friday’s Game of the Week

    FARRELL, Pa. (WKBN) – This Friday, the atmosphere is set to resemble Saturday’s Texas-Michigan game – a pair of powers in their region – with Ursuline (from Ohio) taking on District 10’s muscle, the Farrell Steelers (of Pennsylvania).

    WKBN will have all the action as the Game of the Week will emanate from Anthony J. Paulekas Stadium, the home of the Steelers.

    Ursuline looks to add on to last week’s victory while Farrell seeks to avoid its first 0-3 start since 2006 this Friday.

    The first game on Farrell’s new turf saw an instant classic that ended with the visiting Fighting Irish posting a 40-38 win . Ty’Req Donlow scored the game-winning touchdown (8-yard run). With eight seconds remaining, the Irish defense sacked Farrell Quarterback Kabron Smith to seal the victory. Ursuline was led by Christian Lynch’s 278 yards on 44 carries and 3 touchdowns on the ground. The Steelers’ passing attack saw three different receivers catch touchdowns (Juju Phillips, Kylon Wilson, Lamont Samuels) as Smith completed 77% of 17 throws (13 completions) for 212 yards and 3 scores.

    Game Notes

    • No other school in the area can say that they’ve finished with double-digit wins in eight of the last nine years except for Farrell. The Steelers have also won two state titles (2018 and 2019) and have come away with a district crown in eight seasons during that span.
    • Coach Amp Pegues is in his sixth year at the helm of the Farrell football program – he’s compiled a record of 50-12.
    • His Steeler team went across the border last September to defeat Harding, 24-17 , behind Juelz Johnson’s 152 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns.
    • Farrell is seeking its first win of the season after suffering a heart-breaking 29-28 loss last week to Fort LeBoeuf.
    • In its opener, Ursuline accumulated 336 yards of total offense in its narrow 37-35 loss to Walsh Jesuit . Senior quarterback DC Ferrell threw for 198 yards and ran for another 89 while scoring a total of 4 touchdowns (3 passing, 1 rushing).
    • Ursuline rebounded, a week ago, against Bishop Hartley, 41-10.
    • The Fighting Irish have won 11 road games in a row dating back to October 16, 2021, (topped East, 48-6).
    • Ursuline has scored 30 or more points in its past 12 regular season games.
    • This is Dan Reardon’s sixth year back during his second stint with the Irish. He’s compiled a record of 35-9 since 2021.
