HOWLAND TWP., Ohio (WKBN) — The Trumbull County Sanitary Engineers will be flushing fire hydrants beginning next Tuesday, Sept. 10.

The flushing will last about two weeks and will include fire hydrants only in Howland Township.

Water may become rusty or off-color when fire hydrants are flushed. The Trumbull County Sanitary Engineers Department encourages residents to check their water before cooking, showering or doing laundry.

Water lines may be cleared by running the washing machine on the full cold water cycle with no clothes in the washer. Check all other fixtures, and let the water run until it is clear again.

Crews will start the flushing at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday and continue flushing until about 8 p.m. on weekdays.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and use caution while this work occurs.

Contact the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineers Department with any questions between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 330-675-2475.
