    Local YMCA looking for entries in art competition

    BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Davis Family YMCA in Boardman is looking for artists for its annual juried art show.

    “But I Know What I Like” is open to any adult amateur or professional artists within a 40-mile radius. The contest is called this as judges will be non-experts.

    All family-friendly art completed within the last three years will be accepted, and cash prizes will be awarded. Small ceramics and sculptures will also be accepted.

    One or two pieces may be entered for a $25 fee. The third and subsequent pieces will be $5 for each extra submission.

    Entry fees are waived for anyone who has taken an arts and humanitarian class at the YMCA this year. Any sales made during the exhibition are subject to a 25% sales commission, with proceeds going to the YMCA’s John Patterson Art Scholarship Fund.

    Entries are to be dropped off at the YMCA, 45 McClurg Road, on Friday, Sept. 27 from 2 – 5 p.m. to Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. – noon. Payments must be made by cash or check.

    The awards ceremony will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 from 1 – 2:30 p.m., and art will be displayed until Nov. 10.
