BAY COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – On Wednesday, a Panama City teacher received a special award from the Tyndall Air Force Association.

Holy Nativity Episcopal School’s Jeremy Brannon was named AFA Teacher of the Year at an end-of-the-year awards ceremony.

This is the first initiative the Tyndall AFA Chapter has overtaken in six years.

Brannon was recognized as a teacher who inspires and guides his students toward excellence within the STEM field.

Although the spotlight was solely on him, he made it clear that he does everything for the betterment of his students.

“I want the very best for them. Curriculum aside, science aside, all the learning aside, I want them to know that they’re important. They have someone that they can confide in and that no matter what, I’m always there for them. So, yeah, it’s definitely an emotional time, but something I definitely won’t soon forget,” Holy Nativity Episcopal School Science teacher, Jeremy Brannon said.

Along with the recognition of being named Teacher of the Year, Brannon also received a $500 grant from the Tyndall Air Force Association.

He says he will use that money to help enrich the learning of his students.
