    Memorial Day events in the Panhandle to honor our fallen heroes

    BAY COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – This holiday weekend is a time to honor and remember our fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

    There will be events throughout the Panhandle on Monday that you don’t want to miss out on.

    Apalachicola Sponsored by the Post 106th American Legion is hosting an annual Memorial Day ceremony. It will be on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time located at 230 Market Street at the Veterans Memorial Plaza. The guest speaker is Apalachicola’s own Retired Navy Admiral Mark Milliken, Former Commander of the Independence Carrier Battle Group. For more information, click here .

    Panama City Beach Parks and Recreation announced they will host a ceremony on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial West Park Drive south of Aaron Bessant Park. This newly renovated memorial honors all the branches of the U.S. military and all who served. For more information, click here .

    Local church hosting a free community food drop

    The Bay County Board of County Commissioner and the Bay County Veterans Council will host a Memorial Day observance at Kent-Forest Lawn Cemetery on 2403 Harrison Avenue on Monday. The service will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The ceremony will feature guest speaker, Col. Chris Bergtholdt, the commander, of the 325th Operations Group, and Tyndall Air Force Base.     Santa Rosa Beach officials said they will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Historic Gulf Cemetery at 10 a.m. sharp. The 106-year-old cemetery is located at 1466 South County Highway 393. 150 veterans are interred and honored at this service. For more information, click here .
