PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Kayden Hudson picked up where he left off last season.

Hudson scored four goals in the first half of the season as host Peoria Notre Dame beat Quincy ND, 7-1, in the boys soccer season opener for both teams on Wednesday. Hudson, an all-state forward, scored 40 goals in helping PND to a second-place finish at state in 2023.

Hudson opened the scoring 13 minutes into the match when he took a long pass from Max Materelli and out-muscled a defender to the ball. He flicked the shot home with his right foot for a 1-0 lead. He’d score the next three goals of the game for the Irish, who open the season ranked fifth in Illinois in all classes.

Washington and East Peoria won prep volleyball games on Wednesday.

    Enjoy the highlights.
