NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — New Bern Pride is set to hold their third annual Pride Prom event.

The event will be held at the Riverside Convention Center on Saturday, June 8. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community are welcome to attend as well as friends, family, and allies who are older than 18. The purpose of the event is to provide a safe and welcoming place to dance, socialize, and enjoy entertainment.

Music by DJ P.K.P and drag performances by Makayla Moonshine and Xavier Diamond will feature throughout the night. A full bar will be open during the event.

“At the first two Pride Proms (in 2022 and 2023) we had attendees from all over the region who were so happy and thankful to find an event where they can be themselves and celebrate their identity and diversity,” New Bern Pride President Kyle Edwards said. “In the current environment, where it seems that some are trying to roll back the progress that’s been made in fairness and equity for people in this community, this kind of event seems more important than ever.”

A free family friendly vendor fair will take place before the prom starts, at 4:30pm-6:30pm, to celebrate LGBTQIA+ and ally owned businesses.

Tickets to attend the prom are $50 and all proceeds go towards New Bern Pride, who support the local LGBTQIA+ community with resources, support groups, and more.

The prom will begin at 7pm and run until 11pm.
