Cancelling 4th On Broadway Evening Fireworks Was The Right Thing To Do
A lot of people had a very disappointing 4th of July and the only one that can be blamed is mother nature. Imagine you're the "Interim" Fire Marshall. You don't even have the job yet and you have to decide whether to cancel one of the largest free festivals in the U.S. and ruin 4th of July for a lot of people. I don't even know who this person is, but they made the right call and should not lose one minute of sleep over it. In fact, this decision should actually be "points" toward getting the job.

Mobile veterinary unit caters to underserved areas in Texas
The Community and Regional Engagement Service (CARES) mobile veterinary unit has officially launched at the Texas Tech University (TTU)’s School of Veterinary Medicine. The vehicle, custom-built and funded by donations from the Louise Bowers Slentz Foundation Fund and the Amber Fund, which both come from the Amarillo Area Foundation, enables the school to expand its initiatives in serving the region that has “generously supported it.”
KPET-AM Returns To The Air South Of Lubbock.
Classic country KPET-AM Lamesa, TX (690), which went silent after station owner David Stewart's death last year, has returned to broadcasting after a year of being off the air. Stewart's business partner, Fred Morton, succeeded in returning the station to the market. “We’re just getting the place back on the air,” Morton told KCBD-TV. “But, we had to beat an FCC deadline to get that done, and that’s why I’m here in the middle of summer.” The 250-watt station, which was simulcast on the Lamesa-licensed FM translator K235CZ at 94.9, is back playing music, along with local news and weather information.
