George Strait has most certainly earned his nickname as the “King of Country Music.” After all, he’s had one of the most successful careers in the industry, is one of the most famous faces of the genre and has put out hit after hit, decade after decade. The 72-year-old Texas born musician has had a long and illustrious career, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. In this heartfelt tune, the lyrics tell of the everyday things you see walking down the street, from a flower growing in the sidewalk to a young couple walking hand in hand who look to be expecting a baby. Though seemingly mundane aspects of everyday life, Strait expresses that these are the instances in which he sees God in his day to day. The song concludes as he returns to the hospital where he greets his newly born baby girl, another instance in which he sees God.
In “The Chair,” Strait woos a woman in a bar by approaching her and saying she’s sitting in his chair — classic! The lyrics chronicle their night of flirtation as he tries to win her heart.
“I Can Still Make Cheyenne” tells a story of a rodeo cowboy whose life away and on the road has finally gotten to be too much for his wife back at home, who declares she’s leaving him behind.
This fun, classic little country ditty paints a pretty clear picture: All of Strait’s ex-lovers live in various parts of Texas — hence why he makes his home in Tennessee.
A fun little love song chronicling the evolving romance of two young kids on a playground who grow up to get married. Their love story begins with the passing of a note, saying "Do you love me, do you wanna be my friend?/And if you do/Well then don't be afraid to take me by the hand/If you want to/I think this is how love goes, check yes or no .”
This sweet little track tells the story of a man who, despite his travels, is sure to carry the love of his partner with him wherever he is.
