    Teens can make dragon eggs at Molalla Library

    MOLALLA: A Teen S.T.E.A.M. program at the Molalla Public Library for ages 10-18 will focus on “Appreciate a Dragon Day” by making dragon eggs. The program will be Tuesday, May 21, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

    Rocks, gems and more coming to Canby’s fairgrounds

    CANBY: Clackamette Mineral & Gem’s 60th Annual Rock Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clackamas County Event Center fairgrounds in Canby.     ‘Creative Space’ will be explored at Woodburn workshop

    WOODBURN: The Woodburn Public Library will hold a workshop, “Creative Space: Fundamentals Art History” on Saturday, May 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. The workshop is for ages 13-18.

    Circus coming to Gervais Elementary School field

    GERVAIS: The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to Gervais Elementary School on Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26, with performances at 2 and 4:30 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $8 for ages 12-under and seniors aged 65-older.     Local libraries will be closed for Memorial Day

    MEMORIAL DAY: The Molalla, Canby and Woodburn public libraries will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day.

    Colton High sets performance of ‘Clue’

    COLTON: Colton High School drama program will present “Clue: On Stage,” with performances on May 30-31, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

    The play is based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn, written by Sandy Rustin, and will be held in the high school multi-purpose room, 30205 S. Wall Street.

    Registration for Woodburn soccer tournament is ready

    WOODBURN: Registration is currently open for the upcoming Flavor de Futbol tournament, which will take place Friday through Sunday, June 21-23. Organizers will register teams by calendar year in accordance with U.S. Soccer requirements: U13-U19 teams, 11 vs. 11 players, is $645; U11-U12, 9 vs. 9 players, $595; U7-U10, 7 vs. 7, $545.     Milords and ladies, Oregon Renaissance Faire on the horizon

    CANBY: The annual Oregon Renaissance Faire returns to the Clackamas County Event Center’s fairgrounds in Canby over three consecutive weekends June 1-2, 8-9, and 15-16.

    The event will feature artisans and food, ale and other beverages, jousting knights, and unique entertainment throughout each day. There is also a pub crawl, special musical events after the Saturday shows and much more.

    Woodburn hosts open house for community center bond

    WOODBURN: The City of Woodburn will hold a community center bond open house on Thursday, June 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in city council chambers, 270 Montgomery St.

    The city plans to place a bond on the November 2024 ballot for the construction of a community center at the site of the current Woodburn Aquatic Center and Settlemier Park. This event will offer an opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions and tour the Aquatic Center.

    Woodburn Fire District slates ground-breaking event

    WOODBURN: Woodburn Fire District will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the district’s new fire station on Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m.

    The site, located at 13925 Butteville Road NE, is south of Parr Road and north of Gervais. It has limited parking availability.

    Firefighters slate annual bingo fundraiser coming in June

    AURORA: The Aurora Rural Firefighters, District 63, will hold their 49th Annual Bingo Night on Saturday, June 9, at the Donald Fire Station.

    Proceeds to go the Wayne Yoder Memorial Scholarship Fund and community events. Dinner will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., bingo games will start at 6:30 p.m. Menu includes hamburger, hot dog, chips, and drink for $7. Bingo games cost $1 per game, and an additional $1 for each extra card. Door prizes will also be available.

    Molalla’s Music in the Park slate ready for June start

    MOLALLA: Tuesday evening air will be filled with the sound of music coming from Molalla’s Fox Park in 2024. The Molalla Public Library returns with another edition of its Music in the Park program for the coming summer. The action runs every Tuesday from June 18 through July 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    This summer’s shows will include:

    Annual dog show set for fairgrounds in Canby

    CANBY: The Clackamas Kennel Club’s annual dog show returns to the fairgrounds in Canby June 21-23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The show features hundreds of breeds competing in a wide array of events throughout the day. The event is free, and visitors can wander the grounds to see the many varieties of dogs competing.

    Get a ‘Taste’ of Woodburn through two-day festival

    WOODBURN: A Taste of Woodburn will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23, in the Woodburn Downtown Plaza between Garfield and Hayes streets. The event will feature a family-friendly weekend of live entertainment, local vendors and all sorts of good foods. The event runs from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

    Canby Pride ready for third annual celebration

    CANBY: The 2024 Canby Pride event will be held Sunday, June 23, from noon to 4 p.m. at Wait Park in Canby.

    The event will feature booths, information, food and music.

    Two hoop camps set for Colton this summer

    COLTON: The Colton Hoop Camp will be held June 24-27, with grades K-4 from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by grades 5-8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Colton Middle School gym. Register for the grade level your child is in for the current 2023-2024 school year. Cost is $75

    The Colton Offensive Skills/Shooting Camp will be July 1-3 at the Colton High gym. This is an advanced camp for serious competitors. Morning session from 9 a.m. to noon for kids going into grades 5-8. The afternoon session will run from 1 to 4 p.m. and is for kids going into grades 9-12. Please register for the grade level your child will be in this upcoming 2024- 2025 school year. Limited to 24 participants for each camp. Cost is $70.

    Both camps will be doing online registration this year. Registration is now open and the last day to sign up will be Thursday, June 13

    NMSD begins superintendent search, seeking community feedback

    AURORA: North Marion School District announced that it has officially launched its search for a new superintendent as interim Superintendent Bill Rhoades plans to retire on June 30.

    Next Molalla town will be coming up in June

    MOLALLA: The City of Molalla will hold three more town halls to offer residents the chance to talk about city-related topics in a little more relaxed atmosphere.

    The next town hall will be on June 20. The final two will be held Sept. 19 and Nov. 21. The meetings will be at the Molalla Civic Center (315 Kennel Ave.) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

    Christian writers conference returns to Canby Grove in June

    CANBY: The 2024 Cascade Christian Writers Conference will be held June 23-26 at the Canby Grove Christian Center. The conference is a way for writers, or aspiring writers to not only meet with literary agents, acquisition agents, and inspirational mentors, but take part in myriad workshops targeted to parts of the writing process.

    Hotrod Dreamworks ready for 15th edition of its car show

    CANBY: Hotrod Dreamworks will hold its 15th Annual Car Show on Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. All proceeds go to Relay for Life fundraising. There is no pre-registration required, just a $5 registration fee at the event.

    Chamber golf tourney a chance for fun and networking

    CANBY: The Canby Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual golf tournament on Monday, July 1, at Willamette Valley Country Club.

    Cost is $650 for a team of four or $170 as a single. Tournament day registration begins at 10 a.m., lunch is at 11:30 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m.

    Molalla Buckeroo offers more than 100 years of fun

    MOLALLA: The annual Molalla Buckeroo will run July 1-4 at the rodeo grounds. Wrapped around this event will be the annual Kiddie Parade (July 1), Giant Street Parade (July 4), Firecracker 5K run (July 4), and fireworks and music after the rodeo each night.

    Tribute band festival to bring the sound

    CANBY: Harefest, “The Mother of All Tribute Festivals” will return with an extra day added. This year’s event will run Thursday-Saturday, July 18-20 at the fairgrounds in Canby.

    The event features camping spots available and three days, three stages, and 27 bands assuming the style and musical tributes to classic bands such as Journey, CCR, Alabama, STYX, Scorpions, and more.

    Canby High class of 2004 sets class reunion date

    CANBY: The Canby High School class of 2004 is planning its 20th class reunion with a “save the date” announcement for the Saturday, July 27, event at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm.

    Canby Fire slates its first-ever MDA golf tourney

    CANBY: The inaugural Canby Fire MDA Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, July 31, at Frontier Golf Course in Canby.

    Entry to the nine-hole scramble is $100 per person or $350 for a team of four. Fees include greens fees, event t-shirt and catered barbecue lunch. Deadline to enter is June 30. Pick up an entry form or information on sponsorships at the chamber office.

    Colony Days serving up two days of fun

    AURORA: Aurora Colony Days returns Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-10. Aug. 9 will feature a biergarten from 4:30 to 10 p.m. with the music of Mark Seymour and Friends, beginning at 6 p.m.

    On Saturday, a pancake breakfast kicks things off at the American Legion Hall, followed by a fun run, the Market in the Park and the Outdoor Antiques Market downtown.

    Canby’s Farmers Market is up and running Saturdays through October

    CANBY: The Canby Farmers Market opened its 2024 is now open and will run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Canby on N. Holly Street between NW 2nd and 4th avenues.

    The market will run into October and produce from local farmers, hand crafters, food artisans and plenty of other vendors.

    CANBY: A Dungeons and Dragons campaign for teens ages 13-18 will be the first and third Saturday at the Canby Public Library.

    Portland Timbers supporters group meets in Canby

    CANBY: The local Portland Timbers support group, Timbers Army Clackamas County Frogmen, will meet at the F.O.B. Taproom in Canby cheer on the MLS team for every game this season, except those on Wednesday nights.

    The game will be shown on a large pull-down screen and the fun will include snacks and patches and stickers for sale. Beverages are available on site, and food can be purchased outside of the taproom and brought in during the game. All area Timbers fans are encouraged to stop by.
