When is Ankeny SummerFest 2024? Find out carnival times, bands, parade route, parking info
Ankeny's long-running summer festival will feature an early carnival, a different grand parade route and a new permanent stage for bands. Ankeny SummerFest 2024, hosted by the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce, will be July 12-14 in the District at Prairie Trail, with some family events based in the Uptown neighborhood. The event will include carnival rides, live music, food vendors, drink options, parades, fireworks and more.
Dallas County Fair set to return July 9-13
This year’s Dallas County Fair will kick off a day earlier as the annual event returns with a full slate of activities on July 9-13. The fair, which typically runs Wednesday through Sunday, will now be held Tuesday through Saturday. City of Boone 2024 Sump Inspection Program Public Meeting on Tuesday
BOONE, Iowa—The City of Boone will be conducting mandatory sump pump inspections. to verify sump pumps, roof drains, and other clear water sources are not connected to the sanitary sewer system. This year (2024) is the sixth year of the program, and it includes the east central portion of the city. Over 2,850 homes have been inspected in the other areas of the city since the program began in 2019. Other areas of the city will be inspected over the next couple of years.
One-room country schools had deep roots in Boone Township

ISU Extension & Outreach Offering Services During Dallas County Fair
The Dallas County Fair is right around the corner, with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach making an appearance. The fair begins tomorrow in Adel and ISU Extension Youth Outreach Educator Kathy Rottinghaus shares that the organization’s theme is “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss, with activities throughout the county fair. One of the activities that will be happening are barn tours, as Educational Facilitator Intern Haylee Wachter elaborates.
Urbandale City Council adopts new flag
The Urbandale City Council officially adopted the new city flag during last week’s council meeting. The flag, which features six of the letter “U” in light blue and white intertwined to form a star on a dark blue field, represents the unity of “people, natural resources, businesses, schools, transportation and local government,” according to a news release. The design was selected by community members from more than 440 designs submitted to the Flag Design Committee, which included Urbandale Mayor Bob Andeweg and Urbandale residents. Perry School Board Meeting Monday to Review Resolution Money for Infrastructure
The Perry School Board will be meeting in regular session on Monday. The board will review a resolution to find a date for a public hearing on the proposed issuance of approximately $17 million school infrastructure sales, services and use tax revenue bonds. Other items on the agenda seeking approval during Monday’s meeting include appointments for a board secretary, board treasurer, and a legal counsel for the upcoming school year.
