Meet New AC/GC High School Principal Brian Sauser
There will be a new face at Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center (AC/GC) High School for the students when they begin classes for the 2024-25 school year. Principal Brian Sauser takes the place of Ethan Lensch, and is excited to be stepping into an administrative position. Senior Grant Rychnovsky, Junior Grant Jansen, and Junior Jaxson Book all qualified for the all-district, part of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Des Moines’ first and only elevator death
I recently participated in an architecture walking tour of downtown Des Moines. I went with my mother and a handful of her friends for the southern tour of downtown that goes from the Civic Center to the World Food Prize and then makes its way around Court Avenue until it ends at the Kirkwood. Perry Parks & Rec Preparing for Debut Two-Week Summer Festival
Perry Parks and Recreation is ramping up for an inaugural event, starting next week. The organization states that the first two-week summer festival is set to happen from August 5th-16th. According to Perry Parks & Rec, several activities will be taking place including trips to the park, activities in the gym, and swimming in the pool. The time of the festival will be from 7am to 5pm with breakfast, lunch and a snack being served, but parents are welcome to pack pre-made meals for children.
Former Perry Softball Coach Looks Back on 15 Years
Tina Lutterman has stepped down as the Head Coach for Perry Softball. Over the last 15 years, Perry had a record of 181-290-2 under Tina’s leadership. The former coach shared some of her favorite moments over the years. “2016 the highlight game would be the the Regional Final against Dallas Center Grimes and that final pitch making it to state that one would still bring tears to my eyes. That’s a big one. The way that my season ended this year, just the way the team dug deep and pulled out two big wins that were definitely not supposed to happen that is a lot of pride there too.” It was more than just the games for Tina. “The relationships that I built with the players over the years and those that continue to stay in contact with me and reach out you know. There are some of them that reach out in the beginning of May every year and to say hey I’m thinking about you today feels like softball weather. I just really cherish those moments and know all the little things along the way that just made it really fun.”
Perry Chamber Holds Successful 2nd Street Block Party
The Perry Chamber has the total number of guests from a recent fun summer event. The chamber held its third annual 2nd Street Block Party on July 19th featuring live music, food from nearby restaurants and a social opportunity for residents 21 years and older. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti reveals that the block party was just shy of 400 attendees. She acknowledges that the event is newer and it will take a few more years to increase the numbers.
