Several Agencies Respond to Fire This Weekend in Norwalk
The Norwalk Fire Department was assisted by multiple agencies in putting out a house fire over the weekend. At approximately 10:40 Sunday evening, the Norwalk Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 2200 block of Windflower Drive. The Norwalk Fire Department initially responded with an engine and ambulance with four personnel. Upon arrival, the responding crew encountered a fully-engulfed detached garage, with the fire extending into the residence. The incident was upgraded to a Working Fire First Alarm, prompting the assistance of an engine from West Des Moines and Windsor Heights. Norwalk firefighters initiated a defensive fire attack starting in the driveway and then made entry into the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Perry Police Department Awarded Armor Plated Vest from Shield616
The Perry Police Department was recently given new equipment during a special presentation. Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn was a part of the “Tour de Shield616 Minnesota Ride”, which consisted of a five-day bike ride across the northern state. The organization held a presentation at Hotel Pattee on July 24th to honor the Perry Police Department with armor plated gear. Shield616 Founder & President Jake Skifstad notes that Shield616 comes from the biblical verse of Ephesians 6:16, saying “In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.”

(Des Moines) The National Weather Service forecasts high heat and humidity today and Wednesday. Heat index values will exceed 105° at times, especially over the southern half of Iowa. The lows will be warm overnight in the mid to upper 70s tonight. However, storms today and Wednesday may cause temperatures to hold below forecast for brief periods.
