NWS upgrades Elkhorn-Bennington-Blair tornado to EF-4
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The National Weather Service office in Omaha has revised the rating for one of the Arbor Day tornadoes that struck eastern Nebraska and western Iowa in late April. Specifically, the tornado that tracked from Elkhorn into Bennington and Blair was originally rated as an EF-3 tornado with maximum sustained winds of 165 mph. After a thorough review, the NWS has upgraded that rating to EF-4 with maximum sustained winds of 170 mph.

Living History Farms adding year-round space in expansion
An education center in central Iowa is taking steps toward becoming a year-round attraction. Living History Farms spokesperson Elizabeth Sedrel says they are building a Cultivation Center to replace the visitors center and give them more space. She says it will have a climate-controlled year-round exhibit space, some administrative offices, and some new accessible amenities like a mother’s room, a family restroom, and an adult changing station. “At the same time, we’re going to be renovating our current visitor center into a dedicated Learning Center for school groups for our classes and our daycamp,” she says.

“Learning” Key of Wrestling Offseason
Bluejay wrestling has been hitting the mats with authority this summer. Numerous Perry athletes have been working hard for this upcoming season. Head coach Chris Dardanes expands on what the most important thing to do during the offseason. “Learning. Just learning and getting in areas that you’re not used to getting in. Training a little bit harder than you’re typically used to training cuz you really don’t have anything to prepare for quite yet, but all those things are just reminders of hey just get to spend the time spend the time it’s going to pay off you. The learning part is a big big deal for the summer and that’s kind of try to focus on.” The Bluejays will have to learn a lot as they return no one who appeared at the State Tournament last year.
