WAYNE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – The end of the school year is always an exciting time, but for high school seniors, it’s a big melting pot of emotions.

From being nervous about such a huge change to feeling sad about closing a major chapter, there’s one special tradition in Wayne County that helps with the transition – the Wayne High School Senior Walk-Through!

Seniors getting ready to graduate from Wayne High School put on their caps and gowns Friday for the walk-through event, making stops at Lavalette, Wayne and East Lynn elementary schools to give these seniors a chance to say goodbye and receive some applause and encouragement.

“Walking through and seeing all the kids’ faces light up, it meant a lot to me,” said graduating senior Trista Workman. “And I hope that one day they aspire to graduate high school and make good memories along the way.”

This year’s graduating class is the 100th for Wayne High School! The commencement ceremony is set for Saturday, June 8, 2024.
